Hand-Picked Seeds

FROM THE FLOWER PATCH

Background.jpg

Notes from Alea...

  • Store seeds in a cool, dry place.

  • These seeds have not been winnowed, which means that there will be some debris, and quite a few unfertilized seeds. Fertilized seeds are plump and brown while unfertilized seeds are pale and thin.

  • I like to think of gardening like a wonderful, fun experiment! This seed harvesting project has been a new experiment for me, and I'm excited to share it with you!

  • All seeds have been open-pollinated in my flower patch in Filer, Idaho. With open pollination you'll never know what fun hybrid variations you'll get!

  • Tag me with your fun variations! @huckleberry_studio

Zinnias

Life Cycle: Annual

Plant Height: 3 feet

Depth to Sew: 1/4"

Directions: Direct sow after *all* risk of frost. Zinnias love the heat and grow fast when the temperature starts to rise!

Notes: These are hands-down my FAVORITE cut flower. They produce blooms until the first frost and have big beautiful blooms that last up to two weeks in a vase!

Cosmos

Cosmos

Life Cycle: Annual

Plant Height: 3-4 feet

Depth to Sew: 1/8" (cover lightly as they need light to germinate!) Keep soil moist until sprouts appear.

Directions: Direct sow after *all* risk of frost.

Notes: I love how cosmos dance in the wind! They are another variety where the more you cut them the more blooms they will produce! Don't fertilize cosmos so that they put their energy into flowers rather than foliage.
